Hi People!
Do you know, China's 60th National Day has just passed?
Yes, indeed, it was on the 1st October, sharing the same date as Children's Day. A grand celebration was held to its honour, as exactly five rounds of the Chinese zodiac had passed. All the ministers, including the head-of-state, the previous head-of-state and the head-of-state-to-be, were present.
Lucky children from all over China were selected to participate in the children's choir. These children sang a total of 21 heartwarming Chinese songs which, according to the mother of one student, left the impression of a sense of belonging.
Said a student, "Once, when I was listening to the Singapore national day 2004 theme song 'Home', I cried."
A wave of emotion and belonging washes over all those fiercely loyal to their country. Especially when they hear a song, purposefully dedicated to their country with a good and loyal intention.
Are you a loyal Singaporean? Even if you are not a Singaporean, are you loyal to your motherland? Your friends? Your family?

Experiment Time!
Hey everyone!
It's time for a hands-on-activity! Regarding the previous post, we have come up with an interesting project for you all.
Now, let's start the experiment.
1) Grab a pen and a small notebook (any source of paper).
2) Go to a nearby place (sights that you see everyday, like coffee-shops and road markets or supermarkets). Anywhere!
3) Look around, and observe the habits of people around you (Note! Be careful to not let people notice you... it's a bit like spying) and record them down.
4) Notice the cleanliness of the items around you, and record it.
5) Note about the manners of the shop-tenders.
6) Go home, of course!
Now, look at your data.
Which are the ''worse'' ones, and which are leaning towards the ''better'' side?
Are there more ''worse'' data than ''good'' data?
How can we correct the ''worse'' data?
E.g. good - polite, stall tenders do not yell to attract people's attention.
E.g. bad - people spit onto the ground, dig their noses in front of you, and sneeze openly.

Singaporean's Bad Habits
Hey everyone!!!
Everyone knows that Singapore has its good points and bad points... right? So, I pose this question, have any of you seen a "bad" habit of Singapore? I can think of so many, like "chope-ing" seats with tissue paper. This "bad" habit can be personal, like you've seen someone do it before, or a everyday thing that we Singaporeans do all the time.
Feel free to share all your experiences, good or bad, funny or emotional.

Hello Everyone!
Has anyone ever wondered - what exactly does the term "nation building" mean? Can you find a sentence or phrase to define it? Or maybe, just in your own opinion? What are some ways to work towards "nation building"? What benefits does "nation building" have for people who work towards it? How can you work towards "nation building"? Can "nation building" be achieved by one person alone? Why or why not?

What Will YOU Defend?
Hey, people!
Today, we celebrate our Civil Defense Day, which brings to mind, our Total Defense Day. It was celebrated on February 15. Today's question will be, what will YOU, as a Singaporean, defend if Singapore were to face a crisis?
For some, it can be family, friends, a favourite object, or their school, their neighborhood or way of life. Whatever it is, it is sure to have some meaningful impact in your life. Although our answers may be different, it does reflect our uniqueness, our diversity, and that is what pulls us closer as a community.
A favourite object does not have to mean a toy or a gift that you treasure, but perhaps Mommy's present to me that signifies and shows her love. It may not have to be beautiful and expensive. Even a handmade blanket can be what you cherish. For parents, it can be a messy artwork made by your child. One that shows the sincerity in every dot or dash.
For others, it may be your family. Not only because they are your blood and kin, but because they were the ones who stood by you, always encouraging you on during difficult times. And, like others, it can be your friends. This is because true friends usually mean a great deal to you. They would always able to understand you better, always able to help you when you are in trouble. They always stand by you, never leaving you to cope on your own. That could be the reason you treasure your friends.
What will you treasure? It may not have to be what has just been written, but something else, something special to you. Comment your thoughts and ideas on this blog!
